It all starts with quality green coffee. We source outstanding specialty grade coffee from around the world. We don't compromise on the quality of beans that we put in the roaster.

Roast to order

Fresh roasted coffee is the best coffee. We never roast weeks ahead. We only roast a coffee when we need it to fulfill an order. You can taste the difference freshness makes in the cup.

Attention to detail

We are meticulous in our roasting process. We pride ourselves on the consistency of our roasted coffees. Small-batch craft roasting is our specialty.

July Coffee of the Month:
El Salvador Ahuachapan

Our July coffee of the month is a washed coffee from the Ahuachapan district in El Salvador. We roast it medium to bring out a wonderful balance of acidity and bitterness. This coffee is smooth with a medium body and a lingering sweet finish.

The cup starts creamy and rich, with notes of heavy cream that carry through the cup, slowly fading toward the finish. In the middle, notes of roasted pistachio develop and add a savory dimension to the flavor. In the finish, light milk chocolate joins the lingering cream, leaving a smooth sweetness that stays on the palate. The medium body and balanced acidity make this a great all-day cup of coffee.

Our Signature Roast - Max's Blend

Max's Blend is our signature roast. Designed to be bold, smokey, and complex, this is by far our most popular coffee and has been a staple of the Bay Area for over 30 years. Max's is on the heavy side of body with very little acidity. The cup starts with an immediate punch of smoke. As the smoke fades, dark chocolate notes appear with some dried fruit sweetness and notes of vanilla cream. The finish is very long, bold, and smokey with notes of peaty scotch.

Seasonal Offering: Mike's Blend

Mike's Blend

The wait is over, Mike's Blend is back! In celebration of our 43rd anniversary and in honor of our founder, Mike McLaughlin, we are excited to bring this coffee to you for the next two months.

This coffee has the classic 80's McLaughlin characteristics of being rich and dense, with a heavy body and low acidity. The blend has pronounced chocolate notes throughout the cup from start to finish. Sweet chocolate notes start from the beginning of the cup and are joined in the middle by nutty notes of walnut. The nutty notes fade fairly quickly into the finish, which is long and smooth with darker chocolate notes of cacao nibs and a touch of cinnamon.
