ETHIOPIA YIRGACHEFFE ORGANIC FAIR TRADE
Ethiopia Yirgacheffe is one of the most celebrated single-origin coffees in the world. This Yirgacheffe is light-bodied with an acidity on the higher end for a medium roast. The acidity pops on your tongue right from the start with notes apricot jam. The acidity begins to sweeten in the middle of the cup with notes of milk chocolate. The sweetness continues into the finish, joined by some slight spicy notes of cumin. This is an incredibly complex coffee for a single-origin coffee.
Roast Color: Medium
Cupping Notes: Apricot Jam, Milk Chocolate, Cumin
Certifications: Organic, Fair Trade
Story: Our Yirgacheffe is sourced from family owned farms organized around the Worka Cooperative. The Worka cooperative is located in the southern district of Gedeb whithin the Gedeo Zone, Ethiopia. The cooperative was established in 2005 and has approximately 300 members. In 2005, the cooperative joined the Yirgacheffe Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union (YCFCU), an umbrella organization established 2002 to support a sustainable coffee supply from cooperatives in the Gedeo ethnic region of Ethiopia. There are twenty-six other cooperatives affiliated with the YCFCU totaling more than 45,000 members.
I've been using the Ethiopian Yirgacheffe beans for several years now to make our daily espressos and lattes. It makes an excellent, well rounded espresso with no dark overtones. Everybody loves it!
This is another go-to varietal that we really enjoy. Great flavor. We alternate between this and the Sidamo for a change of pace.
After trying out various medium roast McLaughlin coffees, this one stood out and has become our everyday morning coffee for the past a couple of years. Really like it!
This is so good, I've considered a tattoo! ;)
I've been periodically buying McLaughlin's Ethiopian Yirgacheffe for almost a year and I love it. This coffee doesn't seem acidic like some of the darker roasts. It's become my go to morning coffee!
