In celebration of our 41st anniversary and to honor our founder who passed in April, we are renaming Anniversary Blend to Mike's Blend.

This coffee has the classic 80's McLaughlin characteristics of being rich and dense, with a heavy body and low acidity. The blend has pronounced chocolate notes throughout the cup from start to finish. Sweet chocolate brownie notes start from the beginning of the cup and are joined in the middle by nutty notes of walnut. The nutty notes fade fairly quickly into the finish, which is long and smooth with dry notes of cocoa powder.

Roast Color: Dark

Cupping Notes: Chocolate Brownie, Walnut, Cocoa Powder

Availability: Annually from July 1 to September 2 (Mike's Birthday).

Story: Mike McLaughlin founded McLaughlin Coffee with his family in July of 1983 with a 10 pound peanut roaster and one account. The first blend he ever sold was a custom blend of coffee from Indonesia and Central America, and the blend was lost to the ages when that one account closed. In 2023, in celebration of our 40th anniversary, we brought this first blend back as Anniversary Blend and everyone loved it! With Mike's passing in April of 2024, we decided to rename the Anniversary Blend to Mike's Blend, to honor his contribution to the coffee world throughout his 40 years in the business.

Mike was a huge fan of the heavy-bodied dark roast with a smooth finish. That is typical of Indonesian coffee, which Mike really enjoyed. We're sure he acquired that taste from his Uncle Bert, who lived in Indonesia for 15 years and helped pave the way the exportation of Indonesian coffee back in the 70's and 80's. In the early days of McLaughlin Coffee, the Bay Area was all about dark roast coffee. And this blend pays tribute those early days, with a rich body, low acidity and a long smooth finish.

Amazing

Amazing blend, really well balanced, on the darkier side but not overly so. Really smooth on the palate and really versatile for various hot and cold beverages.

I guess the Good old days really were

Trying the anniversary blend with expectations but despite being hopeful it was even better than expected. Full bodied and delicious without any of the downside that can come with that. Recommend acme levain as perfect accompaniment for a superb morning start
