FRENCH ROAST
We use a Central American coffee for our French style roast. It has a heavy body, with very little acidity, and it is sweet and roasty throughout. Sweet notes of caramel and French vanilla blend with subtle, smokey notes of bourbon to create a classic dark roast coffee that is drinkable all day.
Roast Color: Dark
Cupping Notes: Caramel, French Vanilla, Bourbon
Story: As you may know, French Roast coffee is not coffee beans from France, but rather a style of roasting coffee dark to caramelize the sugars and roast a lot of the acidity out of the bean. In the 80's and 90's we were known for our dark roasts, and we still receive a lot of recognition for them today. We believe in roasting the French Roast dark, but not too dark. French Roast lovers know that there is a a fine line between a great dark roast and an over-roasted dark roast. For our French Roast, we develop the chocolate notes and sweetness while avoiding the over-roasted flavor that is sometimes associated with roasts that are too dark.
